Tariq ibn Ziyad was an Amazigh commander who served under the Umayyad Caliphate, he led an army of mostly newly converted Amazigh warriors as well as a handful of veteran armored Arab warriors during his famed conquest of Hispania, also known as Al-Andalus by the Muslims. His greatest victory was in the Battle of Guadalete, where he defeated the vast army of the Visigothic King Roderic.
